Modeling and Mapping of Soil Water Erosion Risks in the Srou Basin (Middle Atlas, Morocco) Using the EPM Model, GIS and Magnetic Susceptibility

Abstract The Oued Srou watershed located in the Middle Atlas Mountain of Morocco has been a subject serious soil erosion problems due to combination natural factors and anthropic activities. Therefore, hazard assessment mapping can be handy initiate remedial measures area. In this study, improved Erosion Potential Model (EPM) integrated with GIS remote sensing techniques is employed map assess vulnerability water phenomenon its impact on silting Ahmed El Hansali dam. results EPM model showed that maximum annual loss rates were range 5-652 m 3 /km 2 /year, an average 49 /year. delivery coefficient ratio about 34433 t/year sediments reach outlet watershed. correlation analysis between all revealed following order their importance control: sensitivity erosion, protection, slope, erosive state, temperature, rainfall. magnetic susceptibility provided evolution soils; it most degraded soils had high rate.
